Pâmela Leite Rosa Interview (March 2012)
Translated by: Ana Paula Negrao

How were you introduced to skateboarding and what got you started?

The opening of a sports center in my neighborhood, I saw my sister’s friend skating at the park and I thought it was so cool and asked them to let me skate. The next day Mario (my sister’s friend) came by my house and invited me to come skate because he liked me and the way I skated. After that day i never stopped skating because my parents don’t let me ride my bike because it’s very dangerous in my town.

Do you remember what your first setup was?

Yeah, it was one from a dollar store. It cost $1.99 and my mom bought it because she liked the color pink. Hahhahaha!

Were there any early influences on your skating?

Yes, Kelvin Hoefler.

What is the best and worst thing about your hometown?

The worst is everything is too expensive. The good is my family and friends are here and I go skate every day.

Besides skateboarding, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I play with my dolls and hang out with friends. Play soccer and basketball with my Dad too.

What is your typical day like?

I go to school in the morning, watch TV, do my homework, play with my girl friends, go skate, have diner with my family and go to bed.

Where do you like to skate?

I skate at the sports center Jardim Cerejeiras, next to my house. I hardly skate other parks because my family doesn’t own a car.

Do you like skating contests?

Yes, I love contests...when there’s no girls division I skate with the boys.

Where has skateboarding allowed you to travel?

Santos, Belo Horizonte and Angra dos Reis ( Rio de Janeiro-Brazil)

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?

I would love to go to the United States.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Hip Hop, pagode and rock’n roll.

What is something most people don't know about you?

I’m dancer for a Samba school GRCES Corinthinha do Jardim Paulista.

So far, what have been some of the highlights of your skateboarding?

Champion Carioca Feminino 1 2011, Champion Sampa Skate Feminino 1 2011 and Champion Brazilian street skate Feminino 1 2011.

What do you have planned for this year?

Practice to keep the evolution of my skating and I will try to embrace all the opportunities that will come on my way.
