| Evelien Bouilliart Interview (2005)
Name, age and where do you live?
My name is Evelien Bouilliart, I’m 15 and I live in Aalter, Belgium.
How long have you been skateboarding and what got you started?
I think I’ve been skating at least 5 years. A skatepark and guys with skateboards got me started.
Why do you still skate today?
I still skate because I’m young and don’t know what to do.
You recently traveled to the US for the first time. How was that?
I was really stoked that I was invited to the X-Games and I was really excited to go to the States. It was a 12 hour flight. I had a great time. It was kinda short, but I’ll go back for sure.
Do you like skating contests?
Yeah I like it...because I can win some money. I also like to hang out with the other girls.
What is going through your mind when you skating a rail or big gap?
Well, in the beginning I think about hurting myself, but when I’m getting into it I just go for it.
What would be your dream session?
My dream session would be a cool street spot or park...where not to many people are just Sophie, Vanessa, Nugget, Lauren and no police to kick us out or tell us to wear a helmet.
What is the skate scene like in Belgium?
Almost no girls, its only Sophie and me that do street. I think the level over here is pretty high. There are spots, but you have to find them and for the rest skateparks.
Where is your favorite place to skate and where would you like to go?
I like to skate in Athens because you don’t really need a car to get to the spots. I also like to skate in Spain. I would like to go all around the world to the best spots and to meet people.
Do you have any goals for the future?
I’m gonna be happy when I start getting some money from my sponsors. For the rest I just wanna have fun and go to school for a diploma.
Worst slam?
I was trying a back smith and got stuck, fell on my back and head...or smith grinding a round rail where I got stuck and fell with my leg on the rail and my arm on the floor.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
That I’m sometimes really hyper.
Sponsors and thanks?
Thanks to Element skateboards, etnies shoes, Nixon, Von Zipper, 911 skateshop, Lisa Whitaker, Papa Phil & Papa Oli, my parents, and all my friends.
