Allysha Bergado Interview (November 2008)

Birthday: June 25th, 1996

Hometown: Buffet (haha just kidding), it's really El Segundo, CA

Currently Reside: Montclair, CA

Started Skating: I started skating when I was 7, in 2003

Sponsors: Osiris Shoes, H-Street Skateboards, Bones Wheels and Bearings, S-One Helmets, 187 Pads, Tech Deck Toys, Skull Candy Earphones, Sling Z Skateboard Straps, Grind King Trucks, Blackflys/FlyGirls Sunglasses, Sk8GRL Clothing, and Mom+Dad and Lil' Sister.

How were you introduced to skateboarding and what got you started?

My Dad and uncle introduced me to skateboarding because I saw them messing around on one of their old boards. Because of that I wanted a deck for my birthday. When I was 6, I asked for one, and on my 7th birthday, I got one.

Do you remember what your first setup was?

My first setup was some cheap skateboard that was heavy, hardly rolled and it was from Big 5. Yeah...pretty lame, although, I was the happiest kid when I got one.

Were there any early influences on your skating?

My Dad influenced me when I started skating, but now I look up to different pros like: Tony Mag, Ron Allen, Bucky Lasek, Lester Kasai, Christian Hosoi, and Rune Glifberg. I also look up to girl skaters such as: Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins, Karen Jonz, and Rachel Reinhard.

What is the best and worst thing about your hometown?

The best thing about my hometown is that it is small and everyone knows everybody. The worst thing about El Segundo is that the skate park sucks. Montclair has a much better park.

Besides skateboarding, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Read, computer, snowboard, boogie board, tennis, basketball, guitar, piano, drums, and hang out with friends.

What is your typical day like?

On weekdays: wake up, get ready for school, eat breakfast, school, homework, dinner, computer and television, get ready for bed, sleep. On the weekends I do a bunch of different stuff, so I get dressed and try to fit in as much skating as I can.

Do you prefer to skate with guys or girls?

I like to skate with both guys and girls because you can learn a variety of different tricks from different individuals.

Where do you like to skate?

Encinitas, Clairemont, Sector 9, Vans, Etnies, Montclair, The Cove, and Street Spots.

Who do you like to skate with?

I like to skate with anybody who can put on a good session. I also love to skate with my Dad, Tony Mag, The Osiris Kids Team, and the pros who skate the Combi Pool and vert ramps.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Everything on my iPod!!

What is something most people don't know about you?

I like to play video games...even though I suck at them. It's fun to try..hehe..

So far, what have been the highlights of your skateboarding career?

I was featured in the new Osiris Kids Video called "Children of the Revolution-The Osiris Youth Movement", I was also able to be the youngest competitor in the X-Games and Pro-Tec Pool Party.

What do you have planned for this year?

I want to skate a lot, get some good footage, and try to travel more with my family and friends so that we can check out some skate parks and street spots all over the world.

Shout outs and thanks?

I want to make a shout out to all of my sponsors and thank my family and friends for supporting me in skateboarding. Peace out.
