| Holly Lyons Interview (January 2007)
Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up in Walnut Creek, California and I now live in Encinitas, California.
How long have you been skating and what got you started?
I've been skating since about '93. My sisters friend was going out with a pro skater named Wade Speyer, and he had a mini ramp at his house. All of us girls would go and watch them skate. I loved it and wanted to learn. Two of the guys hooked me up with some skateboards and t-shirts.
Do you remember your first skateboard?
Yes, it was a Consolidated Paul Sharpe and a Think skateboard.
Who do you like to skate with and where do you usually skate?
I like skating with guys and I usually skate with them at the Encinitas YMCA.
Do you like skating contests?
The actual contest is a bit stressful, but everything else around contests are fun because you get to see lots of people you don't see everyday and everyone is pushing themselves to skate their best. The parties are always fun too.
What do you like to do when you’re not skating?
Hang out with Rerun (her dog) and my friends. Surf in the summer and snowboard in the winter. I am also starting my own t-shirt line called SK8GRL for girls who skate and like the lifestyle.
What is one thing most people don't know about you?
I don't know....
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
Europe. That way you could see lots of different countries in one trip.
If you weren’t a skateboarder what do you think you would be doing?
Be a business owner.
Plans for the future?
Skating and owning my own company. Traveling the world and expanding my consciousness.
Sponsors and thanks?
Sk8grl, Cool Girl Skateboards, Anarchy Eyewear, Nixon and Manitoba Harves.
